30-Day Anime Challenge! Day 22: Favorite Weapon, Gear or Armor Used In Anime

Hey guys, Samurai here, back once again with Day 22 of the 30-Day Anime Challenge! Today’s topic of discussion, as the title suggests, is Favorite Weapon, Gear or Armor used in an anime! I had to give this one quite a bit of thought; did I want to go for a classic weapon like Kenshin Himura’s reverse-blade sword or did I want to go with something with less impact like Light Yagami’s Death Note notebook; a weapon that requires you to think before you put a pen to paper? Which one did I go with? More after the break.

Day 22: Favorite Weapon, Gear or Armor Used In Anime — Haruko Haruhara’s 4001 Rickenbacker Bass Guitar from FLCL

When it comes to weaponry, it doesn’t get much more feature laden than Haruko’s Bass Guitar. Only Wolfwood’s Punisher cross, which features pistol storage, rocket launchers and machine guns (not to mention mercy) has as much firepower as this awesome piece of musical machinery. Haruko’s Rickenbacker is a left-handed affair that not only fires bullets out of one end, but also has the ability to open N.O channels in compatible humans, act as a simple bludgeoning weapon, and take flight, allowing our favorite housekeeper to ride it like a surfboard. Personally, I love the color and styling; that blue on white with the little touches of chrome and those sexy curves make this weapon not only freakishly functional but extremely fashionable–especially when our blue-socked protagonist Naota inherits it at the end of the series. So yeah, Haruko’s Rickenbacker Bass–often imitated, never duplicated…thank goodness.

Check back tomorrow for Day 23 of the Anime Challenge: “Favorite Attack Someone Used in an Anime”.
