Hey guys, Samurai here with Day 14 of the Anime Challenge! We’re almost halfway done with the challenge, and so far, it’s been real fun! Today is no exception it seems, as we come to the longest-titled challenge: anime that never gets old no matter how many times you’ve re-watched it. I find it interesting that even the greatest of anime have a real low re-watch value. Most often than not it’s because the show is just too directly conclusive. There’s no real incentive to re-watch it once you’re done; you know that Taiga and Ryuji end up together, you know Konata and the girls will end up doing the “Motteke! Sailor Fuku” dance, you know that the Nerima Daikon Brothers will not get their dome in the end. Toradora, Lucky Star and Nerima Daikon Brothers are awesome shows, but admittedly, their re-watch value is relatively low. Only a handful of shows out there now have the ability to remain fresh and relevant even after repeated viewings. And out of that handful, I picked one. More after the break
Day 14: Anime That Never Gets Old No Matter How Many Times You’ve Re-watched It — Cowboy Bebop
Really? Do I have to explain more? Cowboy Bebop, from “Asteroid Blues” to “The Real Folk Blues Part 2” is one of those shows that will never get old, no matter how many times it’s played on TV or how many times it’s watch it on DVD or Blu-Ray. Even though the show premiered 17 years ago, Cowboy Bebop remains a staple of anime fans the world over, and for many, it holds the honor of being “That” show that brought them into the world of mature anime…myself included. Here’s to you, Bebop.
Check back tomorrow for Day 15 of the Anime Challenge: ”Favorite Animal Sidekick, Pet or Summoning From Any Anime”.
