Hey everyone, Samurai here and I got some relatively breaking news for you guys from the world of Toonami, the resurrected anime timeslot on Cartoon Network. It has been confirmed last night that both “Thundercats” and “Sym-Bionic Titan” will be retired from the lineup effective July 20th. Crunchyroll reports that this move might be permanent with regards to “Thundercats” as they have lost the license to the show; however, they still have the rights to “Sym-Bionic Titan” so it’s not out of the question for the show to make a return in the future. More after the break…
In addition, it’s been reported that “Sword Art Online” will be launched one week later on July 27th. Contrary to my earlier belief that the show will replace “Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven”, “SAO” will replace Toonami veteran “IGPX” in the lineup at 1:00AM, bumping “Eureka 7” down a half hour later.
And if that weren’t enough, it’s also been announced that another Toonami veteran, “The Big O” will be returning to the lineup on the 27th. This show, which has enjoyed play on both Toonami and on Adult Swim, will replace ThunderCats in the lineup. It should be noted that Toonami will only be playing Season 2 for “The Big O”.
So! All that being said…here’s how the new lineup will look once all the changes are made: [Note that the times are Central Standard and that colored entries are shows that either myself or OtakuAndrain have reviewed…]
|Sword Art Online||1:00AM|
|The Big O [Season 2]||2:30AM|
|Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood||3:00AM|
