Hey guys, Samurai here, and I got some breaking news from you, so prepare for trouble! And because I’m so nice, I’ll make it double! Anime News Network reports that Toonami will be celebrating its anniversary on March 17th with a special showing of the reboot movie “Evangelion 1.11: You Are (NOT) Alone”. In addition, it has also been announced that the long-running anime “One Piece” will also air on Toonami, though later this year. More after the break.
During a panel at MomoCon in Atlanta, Jason DeMarco, co-founder of Toonami and Steve Blum, the voice behind [Among many other anime characters…] Toonami’s Master of Ceremonies T.O.M, announced that as part of a “Toonami Birthday Party” lineup, the reboot Evangelion movie, “Evangelion 1.11: You Are (NOT) Alone” will air at 1:00AM EST, so for those of you who were looking forward to the next episode of “Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven” or, heaven forbid, the next episode of “Tenchi Muyo: GXP”, you will have to wait until the following week.
It was also announced that the popular anime “One Piece” will be making a return to the airwaves sometime this year, though no exact return date has been released. This is not the first time “One Piece” has appeared on Cartoon Network; if you recall, Toonami once ran the anime featuring our rubberized pirate and his friends back in 2007, as dubbed by the now-thankfully-defunct 4Kids. Since 2009, 4Kids went under and Funimation Entertainment picked up the license; redubbing the series with new actors, and also airing the series in subtitled format on their website as they hit Japanese airwaves.
And if that wasn’t enough, it was also announced that Toonami’s mechanized master of ceremonies will be receiving a refreshed design. Dubbed “T.O.M 5”, the new MC will make his debut this April. An extremely short video has been released showing off T.O.M’s new designs, which, truth be told, aren’t that different from V.4.
Thanks to my best friend Iowa CubsFan for the tip on the above stories! Couldn’t have done it without you brodda!
