Oy! I hope you don’t think we’re done! Far from it! Samurai here again and we have to complete the musical awesome sandwich with the Best Anime Ending Theme of 2012! We have already awarded Best Opening Theme to “Feel So Moon”, so after the break, we’re going to look and see what show closes out the anime, and the musical section of our retrospective, with the best ending theme of the year that was 2012.
Honestly…I’m speechless about this one guys. I really and truly am speechless. “Ohisama” is one ending theme you just have to experience for yourselves because, heaven knows, it is an experience. The ending, set in Sanada North Boys High School’s gym, features the class of 2-A acting out your typical high school stage play “The Path to Heroism”…if your definition of “Typical” includes a battle where the combatants are a fighting teddy bear, Vegeta from DragonBall Z, a glasses wearing maid, a mysterious figure sporting cat ears, paws and a tail, and to top it ALL off, a Haruhi Cosplayer. Yes…THAT Haruhi. Just as a reminder, this is an ALL BOYS high school. But to cap it off, the group picture featuring our entire male cast, with the Haruhi Cosplayer front and center LIKE A BOSS, gives the viewer a reminder that, yes, indeed, what you just witnessed actually happened and it was not a hallucinogen inspired dream.
Yeah, so if I haven’t made this blindingly clear from my previous posts, I’m not a big fan of the anime as a whole, but I know good endings when I see them, and this 2nd one from the “Eureka Seven” sequel gets my secondary nod. I love the colorful manga style and the simplistic story it tells; Ao, Flur, Elena and Noah head out to the beach for some fun in the sun. Nothing wrong with that…now if the anime was only that simple. Sorry, sorry…
Not much in the way of notable endings this year (That I managed to see) to be honest. These were top tier awesome.
