Hey guys! Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and a prosperous Black Friday! I got a bit of breaking news for you from the world of Toonami! Actually, it’s not really “Breaking”, as it was announced on Thursday, but since I was in a Turkey-Induced Coma for most of the day…well, you get the idea. In any case, it was announced on Thursday that the long-running series “Naruto” will be added, uncut, to the late-night running Toonami time slot as of this Saturday starting from the beginning with Episode 001. IT should be noted that this is not the first time our sandle-boot clad ninja and his friends have made an appearance on Toonami; back in 2008, “Naruto” aired [albeit tightly edited…] during the daylight hours on Toonami shortly before the time slot was cancelled the first time. Since Toonami’s resurrection earlier this year, fans on Twitter and Facebook suggested that “Naruto” be returned to the rotation as it is the spiritual successor to Toonami’s last great fighting anime, “DragonBall Z”. Well, it seems as though the higher-ups have listened. Here is how the new rotation looks. Note that the extra “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” broadcast has been removed; possibly because the last two episodes aired last week.
|12:00 AM||Tenchi Muyo GXP|
|12:30 AM||Samurai 7|
|01:00 AM||Sym-Bionic Titan|
|01:30 AM||Eureka 7|
|02:00 AM||Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood|
|02:30 AM||Cowboy Bebop|
|03:00 AM||Cowboy Bebop|
Honestly, I have three words for Toonami–“It’s About TIME!” Please note that I’m not a fan of “Naruto”…seriously, any anime that goes on and on for over 50 episodes tend to lose interest with me quick, fast and in a hurry. But I feel that this is exactly what Tooami needs to bring in both the old-school nostalgic fans of the classic Toonami while getting in a newer demographic of viewer. Now, will we ever stop hearing cries to bring back “DBZ”? Heck to the no. But, hopefully “Naruto”, with it’s similar shounen feel, will suffice for fans…at least for now.
