Hey guys! Got somewhat breaking news last night regarding a change to the “Toonami” time slot! It seems as though, with the conclusion of “Deadman Wonderland“, and “Cowboy Bebop” once again going into retirement, Toonami will be premiering two “new” series to replace them.
The first “new” show is “Samurai 7“, a 26 episode anime series from Studio Gonzo. “Samurai 7” will take the old “Deadman Wonderland” time-slot as it’s last episode premiered on Saturday August 12th. Sadly, I don’t have much information on this particular series, but based on initial reaction from the Twitter-verse, this series is going to be something special to look out for.
The second series is something that, personally, I’m REALLY hyped up about. Replacing”Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”, which will be pushed back in the Toonami time-slot, will be the Studio BONES mega-hit “Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven”. “Eureka Seven” is a veteran to the late-night anime time slot, having enjoyed several runs on “Adult Swim” before being replaced. The reason I’m so excited about this is two-fold: 1. It’s “Eureka Seven” for crying out loud–one of the greatest animated series around, so any chance to watch it is exciting for me. 2. I admit to a bit of confusion when it comes down to watching “Eureka Seven: AO”–re-watching the original series one episode at a time will give me the chance for self-education at a pace that I’m comfortable with.
The new timeslot will go into effect this weekend on August 18th/19th, so mark your calendars and tune into Toonami for “Lucky 7’s”! In the meantime, have a look at this new promo which debuted on Saturday:
