Why The Heck Not: Six Degrees of Anime Separation Contest!

I think we should make things a little more interesting around here, don’t you? Originally, I had three reviews slotted for this month, but since I took a month off, I feel that it’s only right that I give you, dear readers, the chance to make me work a little harder this month! To that end, I will be doing a 4th review this month, and it’s up to YOU to decide what I review!

Here’s the deal: the first person who comes up with the most creative links between an anime-related person and a non-anime related person on or before July 13th gets to pick from a list of what show or movie I will review! Since I wrote up several mini-reviews from several shows from the Spring 2012 season, the list you can pick from will now include completed shows from that season in addition to the standard list of shows and movies. Furthermore, the winner will also get two [COUNT ‘EM TWO!!!] 48-Hour All-Access Guest Passes to CrunchyRoll! A total of 96 hours to stream whatever strikes your fancy!

To decide who wins, we’ll be playing the “Six Steps” Game again! Now, don’t give me that look; it was FUN the last time! And don’t worry, this one is going to be pretty darned easy!

Okay, here’s your challenge: you are to link MSNBC Journalist Rachael Maddow to Anime Voice Actress Monica Rial!

The shows or movies you can pick from to review (if you win that is):

“Kimi to Boku”
“Kids on the Slope”
“Mysterious Girlfriend X”
“A Bridge to the Starry Skies”
“FLCL”
“Highschool of the Dead”
“I My Me! Strawberry Eggs”
“2×2=Shinobuden”
“Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi”
“Genshiken”
“Golden Boy”
“Here is Greenwood”
“Kino’s Journey”
“Rozen Maiden”

“Air: The Motion Picture”
“Akira”
‘Clannad (Movie)”
“Cowboy Bebop: Tengoku no Tobira [Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heavens Door]“
“Digimon Adventure: Our War Game!”
“Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea”
“Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows”
“Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shamballa”
“Grave of the Fireflies”
“Hadashi no Gen [Barefoot Gen]“
“Hadashi no Gen 2 [Barefoot Gen 2]“
“Kiki’s Delivery Service”
“Metropolis”
“My Neighbor Totoro”
“My Neighbors The Yamadas”
“Spirited Away”
“Tenchi Muyo! In Love”
“The Animatrix”

Remember, you only have six links, and it’s the most creative that will get the nod! Leave your answers in the Comment Box below with each step numbered along with the show or movie you wish to have reviewed. If you need help getting started, scroll to the bottom of this review where I give an example by linking a President and a Power Ranger.

WITHOUT EXCEPTION all results MUST be in no later than July 13th which will allow me time to watch the series and get the review typed up before the end of the month.

Good luck and have fun!

  1. 1. Rachel Maddow guest-starred on 30 Rock with Alec Baldwin.
    2. Alec Baldwin played Jack Ryan in The Hunt for Red October, a role also played by Harrison Ford.
    3. Harrison Ford starred in Working Girl with Sigourney Weaver.
    4. Sigourney Weaver starred in Aliens with Lance Henriksen.
    5. Lance Henricksen was in Adventures in Voice Acting with Luci Christian.
    6. Luci Christian voice acted with Monica Rial in Full Metal Panic!

I could not remember if Monica Rial was in Adventures of Voice Acting…so there might be an unnecessary step!
