Greetings everyone! I’m back from my vacation, and I have to say, I had a BLAST! I got some much-needed rest, relaxation, and a whole head full of ideas that I just can’t wait to put to “paper”! But, first things first! But before I get into what I’ve been up to the last month, we have a bit of breaking news to cover! Anime News Network posted today that the trailer for the third Evangelion Movie, “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo” [or “Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q” in the original tongue] was recently released to the public at a convention in Tokyo, Japan along with the formal Japanese release date of November 17, 2012.
In classic “Evangelion” style, where bigger is always better, the trailer was projected on the side of Tokyo’s Shinjuku Wald 9 theater building where dozens of die-hard “Evangelion” fans counted down until playback and watched the trailers for the previous two films before the final trailer, with its much-anticipated release date, finally played out. Fans were heard cheering loudly upon seeing the return of Asuka Langley Shikinami to the big screen and even louder when the release date, November 17, 2012 was projected. If you want to experience the moment for yourself, please check the film out below.
ANN also reports that patrons could purchase their tickets in advance on the 14th of July for 2,000 yen (which converts to about $25). The advance ticket purchase also comes with a bonus gift–a blue bandana. No freaking clue how this ties in with “Evangelion”, but knowing how Studio Gainax loves to milk their “Evangelion” Cash-Cow for all it’s worth, they’ll find SOMEWAY to make it happen.
So, once again, dear readers, remember: “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo” on November 17, 2012…in Japan. No word yet on when we’ll get it here in the US…but with Funimation Entertainment in charge of the licensing for all 4 movies, and based on the work on the previous movies, we can expect a very polished final product…WHENEVER it comes out.
