A Review of “Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A’s”: With even more explosions of friendship!

Well HOLY!. Ughhhhh… Folks I am sorry As a special bonus anytime I have the internet I’ll be formatting like a beast to get you these Animes. A lot has kept me from here, mostly the fact my internet fails every 30 seconds in some way or form. Pings to Google went between 37 ms to 3700ms in the span of a ping packet. Anyway… Next comes a review of the next part of the Nanoha Saga. Nanoha and Fate have come to meet their match. Whatever will they do? Find out this is my review of MSL Nanoha A’s

Warnings and objectionable content: Same as before no need to restate, high PG-13

Story/Premise: So it’s been a few years since the Jewel Seed incident and Nanoha’s grown a little bit. She has her best friend now and everything is going swimmingly until… there’s that little issue of 4 Magical things that attack them, They’re looking for magic to feed to the Book of Darkness and Nanoha is a great candidate. It’s time for Raising Heart to get an upgrade to take on the Book of Darkness.

Now this is a better premise then before. Our theme last time was ‘finding your place,’ this time it’s ‘family.’ The unwitting master of the Book of Darkness is quite a beautiful person and those created by it are all wonderful characters in their own right (even if one of them is male and thus will be effectively removed afterwards.) This premise is much fresher and goes in quite a few different directions taking advantage of the expanded Nanoha world. (25/25)

Characters: Nanoha- A couple years older and a couple years wiser. She hadn’t changed so much, still overly concerned about the enemy, still putting out mad magical power, still got the Friendship beam. She has a lot more confidence in herself with Fate by her side.

Fate- Well considering how her world got turned upside down, she’s taken it pretty well. Nanoha is obviously her best friend and Fate is someone you want at your side. She’s strong and reliable, not to mention shy and overall adorable.

Hayate Yagami- THE EVIL, well not really, the Book of Darkness is slowly stealing away her life as she serves as it’s master. The Poor girl is getting weaker and weaker and by the time the series starts can’t even walk by herself. Looks like someone needs a family.

Signum- The head of the beings created by the Book of Darkness, she’s the leader and the reliable one, a Flame Swordsman (YAY SWORDS!) She’s cool in battle. Fate-chan will have her hands full

Vita- Well, she’s a gothic loli, with a rocket powered hammer and an abrasive personality to match… Yeah there’s no way she’s not win! She oneshots Nanoha, but come on! Who would expect a Rocket Hammer?!

Shamal- The Mother figure, she helps provide support via the use of her rings which allow her to reach through dimensions. A troublesome power.

Zafira- A wolf like dude strong and martial artsy but he’s a guy and we can ignore him, well not totally he’s useful here! And Hayate adores her cute doggie.

Everyone from the last one and more are back for A’s and it’s a good thing! This series has a wonderful cast of characters and boy does it feel complete (25/25)

Animation: Not much different to say. Transformation sequences are eye opening, Nanoha and Fate are packing even more power, the final battle is one hellva show and everyone is looking their best (except when they’re being owned of course.) (12.5/12.5)

Music: A new opening and a new ending. Instead of judging it blindly I’ll just give it to you! First the OP!

This song is called Eternal Blaze and is sung by Mizuki Nana. It starts with a gentle spark and unleashes its fire. I really enjoy this opening. I hope you guys do too. The Animation quality is great too.

Our Ending is called Spiritual Garden.  Yukari Tamara sings this one as you might recognize. Another song that fits Nanoha who is the theme. A nice happy song. Which sometimes doesn’t quite fit but ends the episode on a happy note.

The BG music is still great maybe even better no complaints from me (12.5/12.5)

Production: Well Guys, I gotta say I really really loved this one. It was bigger better, just as dark in the plot, The voice acting was brilliant. Our new main characters were played beautifully topped by Kana Ueda as Hayate Yagami, I swear if you hadn’t fallen in love with Hayate by the end of all this YOU BETTER HAVE A GOOD REASON. *Nods* Hana Ueda is also appeared in Angelic Layer, She’s also the legendary voice of Rin Toshaka of the Fate/Stay sagas. On top of that she’s also the voice of the legendary Mahjong player Saki Miyanaga (from Saki), and she’s the leading voice of Yumi Fukuzawa from Mariamite. (We’ll review that sometime… or try) As I said before Nana Mizuki and Yukari Tamara play Fate and Nanoha flawlessly. Most fans of the saga consider this the best one, especially ones that disagree with what comes next. I’ll… agree this is definitely the best one. There’s a lot going on, but you’re never confused. All the characters are given their time to shine. (25/25)

Scoring Summary:

Story Breakdown – 25/25
Characters – 25/25
Animation – 12.5/12.5
Music – 12.5/12.5
Performance and Production – 25/25

Final Score – 100/100 = 100% – A

Yeah, that’s right. I got No points to take off here. It’s defiantly one of my favorite series of all time, other than the fan-service this is a beautiful story. Each and every character is used well, the drama in this series is amazing. It is a fantastic and wonderful story. I can’t say you can skip the first one though. Watch either that or the Movie. (BTW this month in fact Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A’s The Movie 2nd Was released. Once again a shorting of the season. I’d watch the full thing first then check the movie.)

Well sorry this took so damn long. I’ll get the next one out this weekend if I can find a way to move… (Don’t ask.) Next up I finish the Nanoha Animes with Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS.

What’s that? Did A magical girl just GROW UP AND BECOME AN ADULT?! Why yes… hahaha
