The Best of 2011: “Best Anime Quote of 2011”

Well, will you look at that! In about a week from now, 2011 will be but a distant memory and 2012 will be upon us! I was thinking it would be nice if, for the rest of the year, I would take a look back at some of my favorite things in the world of anime from the past year! Next, lend us your ears as we unveil the Best Anime Quote of 2011!

Best Anime Quote of 2011:

“So she lives with a friend of hers, isn’t that right? Who is she, Sarah F***ing Palin?”
– Takashi Komuro “Highschool of The Dead”

Now, before you get your panties in a bunch, I didn’t just pick this quote because of it makes fun of the completely brainless dingbat who wouldn’t know her butt from a hole in the ground former Vice-Presidential candidate. I picked this particular quote because, well, out of all the hilarious quotes used in the “Highschool of the Dead” English dub, this one is the first and funniest that came to mind! A bit of back story: Takashi Komuro, his friends and the dizzy school nurse are on the run from “them”; undead zombies who attack anything that moves or make a noise. As the episodes go on, the group soon find themselves hold up in a safe-house which is the home of the school nurses best friend [a military officer of some sort]. With the female cast otherwise engaged in a bath scene to end all bath scenes, the boys occupy themselves with going through the house. After a bit of backbreaking labor, the two discover a hidden cache of weapons, causing Komuro to speculate as to the living arrangements of this “friend”. This quote is only one of many jewels brought about by the English dub as directed by Steven Foster, a director who has had, on more than one occasion, taken liberties with the script with comedic results. I’ll go into greater detail when I do an actual review on “H.O.T.D”, but suffice it to say, that “H.O.T.D” is a must-see for those who are looking for a good laugh.
